Beauty Dayz: Kawaii Beauty Collection

Some beauty items are so cute they serve as accessories in themselves. I'm someone who is drawn to pretty packaging and appreciate companies that cater to those like myself who not only want a good quality product, but also something we'd be proud to display. Above is a review of my beauty collection of kawaii (cute) products.

Mini Lipstick Haul

Audrey Hepburn gave me a new found love of lipstick when she said "a girl just can't read that sort of thing without her lipstick". Whether it's good nes, bad news, or a hot date, lipstick always makes the moment better. When I found I had run out of this much needed beauty item, I took myself to buy a couple new shades of lipstick. One is from Guerlain--a brand whose lipstick I simply adore. The other is from Rimmel. I awalys recommend having a luxury brand of lipstick and a less expensive drugstore brand. Drugstore brands are great for casual outings, trends, and nudes. Highend lipsticks tend to stay on longer so they make great date lipsticks. The video above shows what shades I bought and gies a quick review of each lipstick.

Juicy Bamboo Cleansing Cloth Review

In January's Glymm box I recieved a sample of Juicy Bamboo cleansing cloths. These cloths are made with natual ingredients such as sunflower oil, Candian honey and 8 essential nutirents. They do not contain any parabins. Noticing all the natural ingredients, I was very excited to try these cloths. Above is a video review of the product and what I thought of it.

January Faves

I was off to a great start as January began, but near the end I felt myself tiring. Maybe things will pick up again next month. However, the new year brought new treasures into my life. I shopped more than I should have, but I couldn't help myself. I desired so many things and gained a number of favorites.

Sun Gold Sunbutter: I'm allergic to peanut butter, but I like the taste. Thanks to Sun Gold's Sunbutter, I can have the nutty taste without the ill feeling side effects. Sunbutter is a spread made with sunflower seeds, and though there is a sunflower taste to it, it mostly tastes like peanut butter. It's a great substitute and perfect for those that want to eat peanut butter and jelly, peanut butter cookies and all the other treats usually made with peanut butter. Sunflowers boast a number of health benefits such as vitamin E and lucky for more, I'm not allergic.

Lush Milky Bar Soap. I will never understand why Lush discontinued this product and made it a retro item. I love this soap! It smells lovely, mild but sweet. It has a great lather and it is also moisturizing. It is perhaps one of my favorite Lush soaps, and the only thing I don't like about it is that I can only get it online. I'm definitely buying a stack of them next time I shop from the website.

Aldo fold over zip bag. This bag is my new bossom buddy. I have a review below. But in summary, it looks great, makes my stuff feel secure, and goes with virtually everything in my wardrobe.

Yesstyle. I finally got a chance to do a massive haul from the yesstyle website. For those that don't know, yesstyle is a website that offers Asian fashions. By this I mean, the brands offered are from Japanese, Tawainese, Korean and Chinese designers. I browse the website regularly, but it wasn't until this month that I got a chance to purchase anything from there. I pratically bought a new wardrobe! You can see my haul below and see pics of all the items along with a review by visiting this page. I loved everything I bought and will be buying from the site again.

LUSH Website Budget Haul

 Even though I recently went boxing day shopping at LUSH, I had to do another haul because the company introduced their limited edition red dragon soap and I had to get my hands on it. I also wanted to keep myself in line (at least that was the plan) and chose a budget. The budget however was "blank check" giving free reign to shop. Did I shop like a mad woman? You can find out by watching the video.




This was my first time shopping from the lush.ca and I found the service to be good. My items shipped fast and the items were well packaged. Nothing arrived damged. This surprised me since I have heard horror stories of people recieving items that were not in the best of shape.

The only down side with shopping online for soap is that I didn't get a chance to pick the size or cut I wanted. It's a bit of a gamble where you get whatever piece LUSH gives you. This isn't a big deal for generic looking items, but for items whose selling point are their look (pretty colors, glitter etc) or scent, it can be a let down to recieve an item that is not top standard.

Still, the shopping experince was easy and fun and I didn't have to wait long for my purchase. 

Charlotte Russe Lace-Up Aviator Ankle Boot Review

This Christmas, my sister sweetly bought me a pair of lace-up aviator ankle boots from Charlotte Russe. I normally don't seek shoes online, because I worry about the fit, but for $15 I thought why not.

They come in a brown and black, and they are both cute and easy to walk in. The rubber grip sole makes walking in the winter snow and ice less challenging, especially for a klutz like me.

December Faves

December, how can one even describe this month? It aims to be full of cheer, but can also be full of stress. I felt more cheerful than stressed this month and I suppose it is because I wanted to be cheerful. I can’t believe I’ve had this blog for yet another year.

1. My readers: To both my new and old readers, thank you. I am thrilled about going to the new year with you and hope for your continued support. You make blogging worth it. You are always on the top of my fave list.

2. Diary writing: Blogging for so long made me forget how much I love owning and keeping a diary. It is often more convenient, as it can be done anywhere. And with all the cute diaries and notebooks out there they make a very cute accessory. I usually buy mine at the dollar store, but you can also find some very cute diaries on etsy and amazon.

3. Lush Golden Wonders Bath Bomb: Rather than give you a long spiel about how fantastic the lush golden wonders bath bomb is, I’ll let you watch the video below, because words could not describe the magic.

Novemeber Faves

November has always been a month that seems to offend me. The entire year can be bliss and November comes along a ruins it all by sweeping in some kind of calamity. I am always happy to seem to go, and this November was no different. It remained true to style, tossing my life in upheaval. However, as much I disliked November, there were a few (quite few) things that I did like.

November's Glymm Box: I shot a video of my unboxing of November's Glymm box, but disappointingly the video did not work and I was unable to edit and load it. But I wish you could have seen the goodies Glymm packed into the box last month. Among favorite items was a gift-card for Browns.com, delicious jellybellies, and full size of RGB nail polish. I have been a member of Glymm since July and each month has been delightful. For only $10 a month, I get a box of good sized samples, and most times a full size item, of luxury cosmetic and beauty items. I highly recommend visiting the site if you love getting samples, or love beauty products.

 RGB Deep #003 nail polish: It goes on smooth. One coat looks dark enough. The color is beautiful. RGB pleased me greatly with this nail color shade. I had been looking for a color just like it for months and luckily I found one in my Glymm box. It's a great winter/fall color. RGB's Deep #003 is a deep dark plum with a wine colored undertone. I wouldn't say it looks black because you can notice the purple, but it is richly toned and sweetly dark.

LUSH Golden Wonder Bath Bomb: This adorable looking bath bomb smells deliciously festive. I have yet to use it, but the scent alone makes it worthy of a fave. It would make a lovely Christmas present. You can check it out in the video below.

LUSH gift set budget haul video

When LUSH cosmetics brought out their Christmas items, I really wanted to purchase more than a couple of them. The scents and designs of several of them put me in the Christmas mood. To reign myself in, I decided to put myself on a budget while shopping for a LUSH gift set. The gift sets are my favorite items as it allows me to try several products. July Faves

July seemed fast. It felt like we started out in the second week! There were days when I mistook the time I had for more than the month was actually offering. It wasn’t a matter of having so much fun that time was flying or being so busy you need more time (well it could be the latter). I felt as if I was standing still watching the days of the first month of summer take off in a rapid fashion, wishing it would slow down enough for me to take note of all my favorites.

Sakana Grill: I don’t normally write about places I visit, but this place deserved a feature. China town is packed with sushi eateries, but none are quite as fun as this one. In the heart of my city’s China town is this entertaining restaurant the Sakana Grilll.

What makes this place worthy of a faves mention? It’s what you wish a restaurant would be. The service is good, with friendly servers. But that isn’t what makes them special. Three things make this sushi place stand apart from others I’ve been to.

 One is being offered try a sushi dish on the house. Apparently this happens quite often, and it’s nice to be given the opportunity to try a meal that I may end up picking in the future.

 The second was the magic show. Between 6 and 9pm one of the workers puts on a magic show. It’s not mandatory that you watch. She’ll come to your table and ask politely;  the show isn’t long. In fact I wish it were longer since she’s sweet and talented.

Thirdly, you get free pocky for dessert! I should mention this is a treat for the ladies. This restaurant has boosted its appeal by adding some nice features, making it stand apart from other places where you simply eat and look at the décor.

Glymm box: Glymm is a newly launched beauty sample company. I love my samples and getting boxes such as these are a thrill for me. I have a video below where I go through an unboxing of the fist box they sent out. But as a quick summary of them: For $10 (they have other subscription offers) you get a box of around 5 high end deluxe samples. The thing I love about this company is the way they connect with their audience. They’re not a stuffy nosed beauty company. Once you join, you can fill out a form that lets Glymm offer products suited to you. I’ll be posting more unboxings in the future, so those who are curious can see just what exactly they give out.








Vintage type writers: Since April, I’ve been looking for a cute type writer, even contemplating purchasing one online. As luck would have it my sister and I found one in a thrift store for just $5. What luck!  Type writers are so full of charm and seem to be iconic symbols for passionate writers.  They also make great items to decorate with. I doubt years from now any laptop will have that same power. For now it’s just sitting, looking pretty. But it does work and one day we might put it to work.

May Luxe Box Unboxing Video

Loose Button's luxe boxes are getting better with each month. This month's put a big grin on my face, but I'll let you watch the video to see why.

For those who are unfamiliar, luxe box is a box of samples that you can purchase for 9.95 (shipping is free) from the Loose Button's website.

I love this sample company for their variety and brand quality choice. Each month, I'm surprised with a luxury beauty product that without the luxe box I wouldn't have the opportunity to use or would be oblivious to the beauty product company.

March Luxe Box Review

Samples are a great way to try new products and here about be introduced to new companies. Unfortunately, compaies that specialize in providing consumers with samples, especially beauty ones have been small in numbers in the past. Thankfully, as more marketers become aware that sample are a great way to get their name out, more samples will be provided. One of the sample companies that is getting quite a bit attention recently is Loose Box and their luxe boxes.
Basically, for 9.95 you get a box of high end make and beauty samples from various companies. The box is different each month and they ship to the states and Canada. At the moment the is a waiting list but I was lucky enough to get a luxe box for March and you can view what I received in the video below.

Beauty Dayz: Smolder Chocolate Smokey Tutorial

It's a beauty day! I love beauty dayz blog posts, especially when they include a fun video tutorial. The main purpose for this video day was to showcase a tutorial that featured orange. At first I was going for orange and black--Halloween themed colors--but then thought orange and brown would be just as lovely. If not more so, since black is a little harsh for some. This video was chosen because it's both dramatic and simple. I know that doesn't make any sense but you'll know what I mean after you watch it. Enjoy, and don't forget to leave comments.

I bought the lovely jubblies breast firming cream from LUSH a little over a month ago and have been using it regularly since then. I, however, use it as face and hand moisturizer. Check out my review to see if it's worth the nearly 25 dollar price tag.

September Faves

This month, instead of a lengthy article, I decided to put some of my favorite September items into a video. Among those that aren't in the video is the Vogue September issue, which was packed full of great fall wear ideas, though the actual articles were mediocre or not fitting of the magazine, and the Get Back to Style campaign held in Calgary that I got to be a part of. I met a number of wonderful people through it, like Amy of flyingakite.blogspot.com. September was the kind of month that had me feeling all sorts of emotions--happy, sad, partly-cloudy--and I'm going to miss it.
