September Favorites

I love September. It is a month where two seasons coexist beautifully; it’s a time where new school years, fashions, and even feelings begin. It’s a beautiful month to speculate. The month of September itself is one of my favorites so finding other favorites this month is never a challenge.

1.Philosophy Vanilla Birthday Cake: Sephora gave me a sweet gift this month—Philosophy’s Vanilla Birthday Cake shower gel. Not only does it smell like a birthday bash, but it’s a creamy delight that cleans both my skin and hair well. The smell does not last on you (kind of wish it did) but it really comes out in the shower or bath and satisfies my birthday cake cravings.

2. It’s Raining Men by LUSH: Another shower gel that I gave a piece of my heart to was It’s Raining Men. LUSH has created an incredibly delicious smelling product with this one. Though I can’t say much about its cleaning abilities, since I haven’t used it, the scent alone puts it high on my list. It’s made with lotus flower and honey but it smells like THE MOST AMAZING THING EVER (pardon my enthusiasm). If you’re familiar with Honey I Washed the Kids Soap, it’s a lot like that. But in my opinion, it’s better.

3. Forever21 peach dress: I went on shopping spree at Forever 21 and one of my favorite items I bought was this Peach Ruffle Dress I feel as if I’m wearing a flower when in it. It’s very easy to accessorize and it was a great price. It’s the kind of dress I can wear just about anywhere

4. Summer/Autumn Days: When the leaves are a colorful spectacle, but the grass still has green in it and the warmth of the sun can be felt on my skin, I’m happier than a girl in love. I like when seasons befriend each other rather than fight one another in an act of domination. This month had many days when you knew that it wasn’t quite summer anymore but it wasn’t yet autumn. Days like those are picturesque, easy to dress, and often full of memories.

I’m going to miss you September.

Lush Vanishing Cream Moisturizer Review

As part of an attempt to keep my skin looking healthy and glowing, I picked up some of Lush's Vanishing Moisturizer. I was really happy with the way my skin looked and felt and wanted to maintain it by creating a simple facial care routine. In combination with Lush's Vanishing Moisturizer, I was also using their tea tree water. Thus, keep in mind that both these products were being used simultaneously. However, this review focuses on the moisturizer and it's pros and cons

Pros

Light: I love how light this moisturizer feels. It's made with Shea butter as opposed to the thicker cocoa butter and while it offers the moisturizing benefits that I love cocoa butter for, it is indeed more airy in texture.

Moisturizing: Not many "for acne prone" creams actually moisturize. But true to it's word the vanishing moistuizer from lush does the job. It also left a nice glow on my skin.

Not greasy, but not water based: One thing that really stood out about this product was how it managed to be non greasy without feeling watery. Often times, if the product isn't greasy in thickness and texture it feels like water and does not moisturize. Surprisingly, this moisturizer is nicely balanced giving me a nice gentle feeling without the watery let down.

A little goes a long way. A dab is all you need. I never needed more than a couple dabs on my face after cleansing for my face to feel moisturized.


Cons

Expensive: This product sells for 39.95 canadian for the 45g jar. This is not a budget friendly moisturizer. I was actually shocked when I looked at the price at the bottom. $40! If this was my dream moisturizer, I wouldn't be able to afford it regularly. Even if you don't need much, it won't keep forever. 

Gave me spots: Now keep in mind that I was using the tea tree water as well, but my face was spotless before use. Yes it did take away my acne, but not before giving me breakouts. I was not impressed.

The smell: This is not a pleasant smelling product in my opinion. It's not that it smells awful, but it has a definite herbal scent that at first can be off putting. The upside however is that it doesn't last long or stay on the skin.

Overall, I feel the Vanishing Moisturizer from Lush is about a 3/5. It's too pricy and it didn't do wonders for my skin. The only benefit I found was in it's ability to moisturize without leaving me feeling too greased up.

Windy City Trench Coat

 

I see dark denim, cute flats and a warm latte. The windy city trench is for the city girl who has things to do and wants to look good doing it. It's nice to see a cute trench under $100 heck under $60. I sort of wish it was longer than 3 1/4 length sleeves but that does not diminish it's appeal in anyway. Khaki coats are a stable to own. They pair well with anything and are easy to maintain.   

 To make the Khaki a little less monotone I went with a brightly printed scarf. The other black accessories compliment not the Khaki but also the scarf. I could have added more color, but I felt the scarf was enough.
