Enjoy Weekends: Get It

Get it

"You can't always get what you want, but if you try, sometimes you just might get what you need."  True words, that I should reflect on this weekend. This set put me in the mind of work, what with the slacks and all. Perhaps it's because I'm in work mode. Studying for a final, trying to finish a project, finding ideas for fall posts, my mind my been thrown in the realm of productivity. But all work and no play is dull dull dull. Therefore, I'll take some time to get some rest, get some laughs, and get in contact with friends I've been neglecting.
Whatever it is you want or need this weekend I hope you get it!

Have a great weekend!

July Faves

July seemed fast. It felt like we started out in the second week! There were days when I mistook the time I had for more than the month was actually offering. It wasn’t a matter of having so much fun that time was flying or being so busy you need more time (well it could be the latter). I felt as if I was standing still watching the days of the first month of summer take off in a rapid fashion, wishing it would slow down enough for me to take note of all my favorites.

Sakana Grill: I don’t normally write about places I visit, but this place deserved a feature. China town is packed with sushi eateries, but none are quite as fun as this one. In the heart of my city’s China town is this entertaining restaurant the Sakana Grilll.

What makes this place worthy of a faves mention? It’s what you wish a restaurant would be. The service is good, with friendly servers. But that isn’t what makes them special. Three things make this sushi place stand apart from others I’ve been to.

One is being offered try a sushi dish on the house. Apparently this happens quite often, and it’s nice to be given the opportunity to try a meal that I may end up picking in the future.

The second was the magic show. Between 6 and 9pm one of the workers puts on a magic show. It’s not mandatory that you watch. She’ll come to your table and ask politely;  the show isn’t long. In fact I wish it were longer since she’s sweet and talented.

Thirdly, you get free pocky for dessert! I should mention this is a treat for the ladies. This restaurant has boosted its appeal by adding some nice features, making it stand apart from other places where you simply eat and look at the décor.

Glymm box: Glymm is a newly launched beauty sample company. I love my samples and getting boxes such as these are a thrill for me. I have a video below where I go through an unboxing of the fist box they sent out. But as a quick summary of them: For $10 (they have other subscription offers) you get a box of around 5 high end deluxe samples. The thing I love about this company is the way they connect with their audience. They’re not a stuffy nosed beauty company. Once you join, you can fill out a form that lets Glymm offer products suited to you. I’ll be posting more unboxings in the future, so those who are curious can see just what exactly they give out.

Vintage type writers: Since April, I’ve been looking for a cute type writer, even contemplating purchasing one online. As luck would have it my sister and I found one in a thrift store for just $5. What luck!  Type writers are so full of charm and seem to be iconic symbols for passionate writers.  They also make great items to decorate with. I doubt years from now any laptop will have that same power. For now it’s just sitting, looking pretty. But it does work and one day we might put it to work.

Thanks for reading please subscribe for future updates ^_^

Enjoy Weekends: Escape

escape

It's time to escape the ordinary. Leave your house; leave your city; see something different and new, even if it's just through the pages of book or the flashing images of a movie. One can't spend all their days in the same old place doing the same old thing.

And while we're escaping, why not try fleeing from your usual look. Some rocker jeans for the usual frilly girl or a bold top for the simplist.

I'd like to escape out of my typical flats and into some high buckle heels, seen in the set above. I want to step away from my neutral toned lip ware and stun with bold hot red lipstick, even if it's just for the weekend.

Have an adventurous weekend loves!

Beatle Boots

Fashion and pop culture tend to go hand in hand and the popularity of the Beatle Boots (given rise to by the Beatles) is just another example. These tight fitting, ankle high boots have been worn since the 60's, but are making a big comeback.

There are many variations of these sleek Beatle Boots. I prefer the low suede ones but that doesn't mean the other styles haven't poked my fancy.

Admittedly, it wasn't love at first sight but after I let my imagination work and began envisioning them with different outfits, I grew to appreciate this boot style. Is this a trend you'll jump on or do think the Beatle Boots should walk back into the 60s?

Pedal Your Way Into My Heart

I love bicycles. They give one a continuity with the past. So vintage, so simple, so stylish! Browsing through the web rekindled my love for bicycles, not just for the pleasure of pedaling, but for the fashionista in me. Below are some cute bicycle inspired accessories that have pedaled their way into my heart.

Enjoy Weekends: Turn your face to the sun

Turn your face to the sun

Is it just me, or is summer sliding away quickly. I feel as if July is going by so fast, not leaving me enough days to soak up the sun. This weekend I would like to throw on summer dress like the one in the set and sit in the sun. You bring your guitar and I'll bring a tambourine; we'll start a grass roots band and serenade summer before it slips past us.

In The Trench Shoes

In The Trenches Shop has been stocked with some pretty, head turning, wild shoes. Some of them are a bit too wild for my personal taste but they caught my eye and perhaps may catch yours.

Myra02 Peep Toe Woven Platform Pump PINK

I love both the look and the price ($30.80) of these darlings. They're just a pretty, simple heel to wear with cute shorts or sweet summer dress.

Object Glitter Flat Shoes PINK

Here's another pair of inexpensive shoes for the summer. Not sure if it was the pink, or the glitter that caught my attention, but I'm certain these shoes will draw eyes as you lead a path of sparkle down the streets.

M1062-20 Spike Studs Wedge Heel Pumps BLUSH

I like studs; they're not always easy to dress with but they make a great bold statement. The addition of studs to these pastel pink wedges makes what would normally be basic wedges at lot more dramatic.

The Highest Heel Women's Lux-41 Open Toe Boot

These heels remind me of the Cheshire cat from Alice in Wonderland. Apparently, they are well received by the public, getting lots of compliments. The question I asked myself when I saw these heels was "would I wear them?" If the Cheshire cat and I had a date and I wanted to make a good impression I may slip these on and chat with the silly cat;  besides that, I can't see myself pairing these wild heels with too many items in my wardrobe.
